In September of 1981, forty-five charter members of the Atlanta Gay Men’s Chorus met for their first rehearsal under the baton of founding Artistic Director Jeffrey McIntyre. Tonight, the AGMC will hold the first rehearsal of its 30th season, and, with Jeffrey’s support and blessing, I am honored to be at the helm.
One could say that today is our 29th birthday, but we’re not holding. We are poised to celebrate our thirtieth season with flair, style and panache! You don’t want to miss any of these spectacular performances, including a very special holiday concert with some very special guests, a trip down opera lane, and a tribute to Broadway’s last 30 years, featuring guest star Joanna Gleason. How could we resist doing what we do best this season?
In addition to a season of great music, we’re planning a signature gala event in November to honor some of AGMC’s heroes, including it’s founder, our biggest donor, and those in memoriam. More information on Encore, featuring Atlanta’s own Jennifer Holliday, is on its way.
I look forward to seeing you at all of our performances, celebrating with us the proud journey of the Atlanta Gay Men’s Chorus. Get your season tickets now!
