The Atlanta Gay Men’s Chorus is privileged to have a growing number of corporate sponsors — organizations which believe in the message of diversity and inclusion that is at the heart of the AGMC.
Since 2007, Macy’s has been an AGMC corporate partner, donating financial and in-kind support to help the chorus produce concerts and accomplish our mission.
Joe Vella, Macy’s director of corporate giving, notes that the AGMC is particularly well-matched with Macy’s corporate giving values, which include a commitment to diversity and support for the arts. He noted that AGMC’s music appeals to audience members across all demographics. It only makes sense, Vella explained, for Macy’s to support “a group that presents incredible-quality music that’s pleasing to any ear.” In addition, he’s been a personal fan and supporter of the AGMC since he moved to Atlanta in 1995.
Beyond the AGMC, Macy’s is a long-time sponsor of a wide range of nonprofit organizations. In 2011 alone, Macy’s contributed more than $26 million to approximately 4,500 non-profit organizations, mainly in the areas of arts and culture, education, the environment, HIV/AIDS awareness and research, and women’s issues.
Macy’s is well-recognized for its support of the LGBT community. Whether it is nationally through its partnership with the Human Rights Campaign, or its local support of Pride festivals and parades throughout the United States, Macy’s diversity statement affirms its firm belief “in the LGBT community and all it represents.”
The AGMC thanks Macy’s for its generous support and for its steadfast commitment to the LGBT community and the arts!
