AGMC Members In Memory

The Atlanta Gay Men’s Chorus remembers its staff and members who are no longer with us. Brothers, sing on!

  • Jerry Garrison

Jerry Garrison, former singer and accompanist for the Atlanta Gay Men's Chorus, has passed away.
Jerry's influence and guidance with AGMC is immeasurable. He was a faithful member for many years, serving on the Board of Directors, and at the keyboard as accompanist.
His Sunday School drag character, Miss Inita Goodman, made her first appearance on stage with AGMC at the WGAY Radio show in March of 1992.
He and his husband Al Whittington met in AGMC and have been together ever since.
We are so thankful to have had Jerry part of our organization. May he rest in peace.

  • David Puckett

David Puckett moved to Atlanta in 1992. He had never heard a gay men's chorus before he attended the AGMC's holiday concert that same year - and he was so inspired, he applied to become the next Artistic Director shortly after that. He led the chorus from 1995 until 1999.

When he began, the chorus had about 45 members - the same number Jeffrey McIntyre had in 1981. He doubled the size of the chorus and expanded its artistic reach, with performances at the Fox Theatre and with Dr. Maya Angelou, and building the group into what it is today.

  • Ron Jones

Ron first joined AGMC for the holiday concert of 1996, and would have continued to sing with us if it weren't for health issues over the last few years. Ron was originally from Camilla, GA and held an MFA in music history from the University of Georgia. Ron was one of the sweetest, kindest, and nicest individuals and AGMC brothers we've ever known, and was a strong supporter of AGMC, AWC, and OurSong. He was also the first-ever recipient of the AGMC Salo's Halo Award for his untiring volunteer contributions to the chorus. We mourn the loss of our gentle chorus brother - may he continue to sing with the angels in heaven.
